Five things MWM learned in 2023

Feb 19, 2024

2024 is here and we have an exciting year filled with so many possibilities in front of us. 2023 was a REALLY big year for us all at Move With Meg and every success and obstacle allowed us to grow and learn.

Here are five things we learned in 2023 and how we are using these lessons to make Move With Meg even better in 2024.

Working with dancers in person fills us with energy and inspiration

In the summer of 2023 we did our first in-person event - MWM On Tour! It took a lot of hard work behind the scenes to make sure everything went smoothly and accommodate our trip over to Ireland but it was SO worth it.

We left MWM On Tour feeling inspired, filled with energy, and grateful. Each of the dancers that attended were well-behaved, polite, and passionate about their dancing. Their energy was outstanding and we saw so much progress by working with them face to face.

This is why we are making an active effort this year to attend more feises (and possibly run another MWM On Tour!!). I’ve already attended McCarron feis and Annabelle and I loved attending the All Irelands….plus we will be at the CLRG World Championships this Easter. We cannot wait to see you all dance on stage and be there in person to support you.

Everyone loves a Meg Moves reel

Last year we launched our Meg Moves reel series and everyone loves them! Each reel gives dancers a way to improve their dancing depending on their current weaknesses. We love giving out free information and helping as many dancers as possible. If you’re ever looking for help with your dancing, our Meg Moves reels on our Instagram page are always a fantastic place to start.

This has inspired us to share even more free information - we have our five essential stretches download, our social media pages, our Facebook group and our podcast. This year we are going to be even more consistent with these offerings so you can learn as much as you can do to become the best dancer that you can be.

Looking after ourselves helps MWM succeed

One thing that, as Coaches, we have learned this year is that when we look after ourselves, we are better at coaching our dancers. By looking after ourselves mentally, physically, and emotionally we have more energy to pass on to our dancers. So we are each taking time to rest, exercise, eat healthily, and work on our mindset. By working together and having an open and honest community between our Coaches, we can lean on each other when we need to.

Investing in my own education develops what we can offer

Last year I worked with lots of people behind the scenes to help the background of MWM run as smoothly as possible. By investing in other people, for example, a Business Coach, we were able to learn about new systems that make our Gold Club much easier to navigate. These new systems have saved us time and also provided us with more accountability when we set goals for ourselves and MWM.

This year we are going to be investing in more systems, knowledge, and working with different people so that we can offer you all more programmes, packages, and exciting opportunities.

Go big or go home when it comes to goal setting

Finally, we learned it was beneficial to ‘go hard’ when it comes to goal setting. Earlier last year we weren’t particularly great at setting big goals but once we did, and we made a plan as to how to achieve it, those goals started to become our reality!! By setting our goals higher than normal and pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones we gained more confidence in ourselves.

We cannot wait to write this blog again in 12 months and discover what we have learned in 2024. What were your biggest lessons in 2023? Message them to us and let us know what you learned and how that is going to positively impact your 2024 dance year.
