No Worlds? No problem

Apr 01, 2023

Multiple organisations are preparing to host their World Championships over the next few weeks. This is such an exciting time for those dancers who are preparing to head to Montreal, Killarney and Dublin. But there are many dancers all over the world who won't be attending the World Championships.

This could be because they are too young, didn't qualify this year, they're injured, it's too expensive, they can't get time off work, they are on a ban or hundreds of other different reasons.

Being at home during this time can be tough for many dancers, but our MWM Team is here to support ALL Irish Dancers! So, here's our top tips for making the most of your time at home during the World Championships:

  • Aimee's advice is to enjoy the break! Take time to look back at how far you have come in your dancing journey so far and be proud of what you have achieved already!  This a fresh start to the new Feis season - remember how exciting that is!

  • Cyra's advice is to use and focus your energy on working harder and remembering how much you want to be there next year. Write down how you feel and how much it would mean to you to dance at the World's in 2024 and allow this to motivate you to work even harder over the next 12 months and become the best dancer that you can be.

  • Meg's advice is to not compare yourself to where other people are. Focus on you, where you are now and where you want to be - then make a plan to make that goal a reality. Remember we all have a different dance journey!

  • Ave's advice is to focus on something and start taking action straight away! Don't let not going to World's set you back - use it as motivation to drive you forward and achieve those small wins for yourself.

  • Annabelle's advice to focus on yourself during this week. Fill your week with things that make you happy and that maybe you don't get to do normally because of dance commitments. Maybe you are spending some time with family, seeing more of your school friends or going away on holiday. Use this break to have a deep think about how you would like the next 12 months to look and how you are going to achieve it. Make a realistic plan, create a vision board or a timetable to help you get one step closer to your goals becoming a reality. Remember, you are you and being you is wonderful!

Remember, following our advice and keeping a positive mindset will help you make the most of this time, grow in confidence and improve your dancing ahead of the next dancing season.
